The bid process of getting a new deck was frustrating and exhausting to say the least. I recieved 8 bids ranging from 28k to 65k all giving me a wide variety of options on design and features. After getting bids from the big box stores, a couple independent crews, a few deck companies, and Ray Dertz company Mile High Designs, I decided to go with Ray's company because they could do everything turn key including stucco patch, paint, and electrical. Ray pulled all permits, got all the engineered drawings, and made sure everything was done to code. Once we got to the install, I couldn't have been more impressed with his team of deck installers. They busted everything out in 3 weeks start to finish and the stucco patch and paint took a couple extra weeks to get done but ended up looking great. The electrical step lighting and railing package is my favorite part of the deck. I'm very happy with Ray and his company and would highly recommend him for anyone who is looking to replace their deck.

Ray and his team built our deck and they were great to work with. They showed up with they said they would, they communicated with us, and they finished on time and on budget. Ray was great about helping us with our design and picking materials that look great and don't need maintenance. It's been over a year since he finished the project for us, and we're very happy with it.

I've been looking for an honest, straight forward and talented contractor and the name Mile High Designs kept coming up. Took a look at the website and reviews on Houzz and their work is beautiful and the reviews are great. I just bought my house and had a lot of questions about costs that mainly came from the inspection. Ray got back to be me right away - he was candid, he could only ballpark without seeing the house but was friendly, professional and helpful - the information he gave helped me receive a discount on the house and now I can get the work going, right after I move in. Even though the first project I want to do it small, I have other projects I'd like to do within the next six months, and it's nice to establish a relationship with a contractor you already trust.

There seems to be a lack of talented contractors since the recession started, but Ray was a person who excels with his attention to detail. I have used his company 3 separate times and have not been disappointed. The first was a deck, second was a fireplace and the last was a kitchen. I am glad I finally don't need to go anywhere else. He explained every facet of the job and finished on time. Thanks Ray!!

Ray Dertz and Mile High Designs completed a 500 sqft covered patio to our home in the Summer of 2012. From the beginning of the project to months after, all I can say is that we were very impressed! We contacted Mile High Designs in the fall of 2011. Ray Dertz, the owner and head contractor of the operation, came out to meet us and listen to what we had in mind. We had received several (6 or 7) estimates for our outdoor living space but got a good feeling about Ray right away. Our first impression of Ray was that he was confident, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Through the entire process he accommodated our requests and was extremely patient with our severe indecisiveness. Never once did he push the hard sale on anything and actually recommended several design features that reduced the total cost of our project by 10% or 15%. Ray's design ideas were the best of the 6 or 7 we reviewed and his bid came in the as the most comprehensive (he included the most detail). While not the least expensive of the bids we received, it was less than the median. With any project of this size, problems are bound to arise. We had a few minor ones, such as a cracked window and some shifting and settling which affected an existing door shutting properly. Ray addressed all of these items immediately and without any issue. After the project was complete Ray checked in several times to make sure everything remained to our liking. A week or so after completion we decided we didn't like the color of our lighting trim. Ray agreed he didn't like it either and replaced without it any delay or push back. The addition to our home has really added a "Wow effect". It's our favorite part of our home, and we have yet to bring a guest out there without multiple compliments and lengthy discussion. We've said if we ever put our home on the market, viewers of it will remember it as "the house with the awesome patio". All in all, we were extremely pleased with Ray and the subcontractors he used. I would recommend him to anyone looking to add additional space to their home without reservation. He's a professional of the highest degree and a real pleasure to work with. Ed & Heather M.

Ray and his crew did an excellent job on our wrap around deck with attached shed underneath. The estimates were reasonable, the crew was courteous and professional, and the work was very high quality. Ray was excellent at returning communication promptly and addressing all concerns. I would have no hesitation recommending Mile High Designs to anyone.

We hired Mile High Designs this summer to build a pergola over our back patio. Not only is it gorgeous but it was one of the easiest and most pleasant contracting experiences we've ever had! Ray is extremely professional, responsible and dedicated to his work. He worked with us on designing the pergola and always has a "can do" attitude.
